Engaging landholders through citizen science

Run by our partner the National Parks Association of NSW, Who’s living on my Land? citizen science engages landholders to use infrared motion detection cameras to monitor the wildlife living on their properties. This program seeks to fill a gap in data on private land by providing valuable baseline information and in so doing assist to build a more complete picture of the species that live in our area.

Landholders are trained during a local workshop on how to set up and use the cameras and how to make their own lures from a mixture of peanut butter, honey, oats and fish sauce. Participants then set up the camera on their properties which records for a period of two weeks. The photos are sent to NPA for identification.
