Weedwhackers

A long term project to combat weeds in the fragile cave environments of the Abercrombie Catchment.

A volunteer experience with a difference

We run weeding weekends through the National Parks & Wildlife Service at two of the Abercrombie Catchment’s spectacular karst systems – Abercrombie caves and Wombeyan Caves.

Part of a long-term project, work includes assisting with targeted weed control and bushland regeneration to reduce the impact of woody weeds and vines on these fragile areas. This enables native plants and animals to regain a footing, helps conserve the caves unique and vulnerable ecosystem and improves the water quality of surrounding rivers and streams.

Weeding weekends are free and include all accommodation, main meals and night cave tour!

We had a marvelous time with so much food, camaraderie, BBQ, the free cave tour, cuddly kangaroos and of course comfortable lodge accommodation.
